Appearance: While from a distance he may appear to be your average Sneasel, there are a few things that make him different from others of his species. For one, he is taller than the majority of his species. One foot taller, making Waltz 3'11". Not only is he taller, his fur is somewhat lighter in coloration. His silk-like fur is more of a dark shade of taupe. His feathers are lighter than the norm as well, being red orange rather than just plain red. His eyes are the same color as the amber gems on his forehead and chest; golden. And under his right eye is a small scar from a bad encounter with an old enemy.

History: Waltz was born to a Beartic named Rumba and a shiny Weavile named Calypso in a small kingdom that his father was the king of. While his parents didn't plan on having him, he was still loved. However, when Waltz was four years old his mother disappeared, never to be seen again. While many searched for her, she was never found. While this broke his heart, he tried to keep an optimistic outlook. He still had his father, didn't he? And his friends, of course! Things when back to normal for a while, then a year passed and things took a turn for the worst.

A few days before the incident, he heard rumors of the town having to relocate, but didn't worry about it. What were the chances of them actually having to move? Unfortunately, those rumors were true. The town did have to relocate due to a much larger kingdom of Fire-types becoming hostile. They planned on moving downriver, but there was one problem; they didn't have enough supplies for everyone. Somebody would have to stay behind. And that somebody was Waltz. Before Waltz woke up, the residents set off with heavy hearts and left.

The morning he woke up, he went to check on his father. However, when he saw that he wasn't in the house, he brushed it off and thought that he was just at his place of work. The Sneasel then went to find his friends. But he soon realized that the town was desolate. He was alone. Though he didn't have time to cry, as a small group of Fire-types soon raided the town, shocked to find that the only inhabitant was a mere child. However, the four Pokémon from the enemy kingdom chased him off. The young child ran as fast as he could for as long as he could, but eventually he grew tired.

The next thing he knew, he was in a small house on a hillside. Soon enough he was greeted by a couple; a Kangaskhan named Emilia and a Vespiquen named Jenna. While he was timid around them at first, fearing that they might attack or eat him, they explained that they found him unconscious by their house and took him in. After a few months of living with them, Waltz grew attached to the couple and even began to view them as mother figures. As the years went on, he continued to live with them as if they were his real family. The couple - now married - even adopted an egg, which would soon be another adopted child of theirs; an Eevee who they named Kelly.

When he turned eighteen, he was ambushed by an Arcanine while searching for berries with his adopted family. The Pokémon that attacked him was one of the four who chased him away from his home when he was little. During the attack Waltz received a cut under his right eye, resulting in a scar. While he wasn't seriously injured in the attack, Fire-type Pokémon continued to strike fear in the heart of his family. Finally, he had enough. The Sneasel decided to set off on a journey in hopes of luring the enemies away from his family. While they didn't like the idea of him leaving, he didn't want them to live in fear anymore. So he left.

After about a month of traveling almost blindly in the fog with a ferocious Arcanine tracking him down, he finally reached the city of Andalusst, where he decided to stay and join one of three Guilds; the Hunters Guild. Though, this was mainly because he had no idea there were other Guilds until his interview with Cuffin began.

Trivia:
- Waltz is heteroflexible.
- The reason he is taller than most Sneasel is because both his parents were tall
 - and his father is a Beartic and those things are huge sooo o/
- He is somewhat afraid of Fire-types

The Sneasel approached the elegant building where he was instructed to go to; Café Obscurité. Why it was called a cafe when it really was a successful restaurant remained a mystery to the young adult. Perhaps someday he would learn the reasoning behind this. But for now that would have to wait. He took a second to compose himself before he opened the doors to allow himself in. Usually, he and many others wouldn't be able to afford to dine here. But earlier he was invited her to speak to a representative of the Hunters Guild. While Waltz looked forward to tasting the food that the renowned restaurant had to offer, he was worried that he would have to pay for his food, seeing as he was technically broke.

Immediately, his golden eyes lit up as he slowly looked around the fancy dining establishment. While he expected it to look really fancy, he didn't expect it to look this nice! The Pokémon stationed at the front desk approached the Sneasel and guided him to the table in a dark corner of the restaurant. Was it really necessary for the place to be so dim? He might have complained more, but due to him being Dark type, he could see things a bit more clearly. Already seated at the table is a sly-looking Furret wearing a blue newsboy cap. Was he supposed to be the representative the Hunters assigned? That's what Waltz thought, at least.

"Hey, pull up a seat. Order your favorites; this one's on the Guild's checkbook," the Normal-type spoke, waving at the dual type to join him. His words answered his assumption. He was here on behalf of the Hunters.

Not too long after the young adult took a seat, an Empoleon approaches the two at the table and passes decorative menus to both of them. Waltz looked at the different dishes, all of which looked absolutely delectable, even if they were pricey. "The usual," Cuffin said with disregard as he passed the menu back to the Empoleon, pushing it against the waiter's chest. The waiter rolled his eyes before fixating on Waltz, who quickly tried to find the dish that would best suit his palate. "Oh, this berry salad looks nice!" He said with a polite grin on his face as he pointed to the desired dish.

Once the Empoleon has the orders, he casts one more irritated glance at Cuffin, who seems unmoved by the waiter's expression. "No sense of humor," he remarked as he shrugged his shoulders, before he slumped back in his chair to relax. He seems to be looking off into nowhere, his eyes set on nothing or nobody in particular.

"The name's Cuffin, but I'm sure you've already heard of me. No need for introductions on your part, I already know who ya are," Cuffin said with a sly look on his face once more while he tapped his paws together. "So... I work for this kid, Sundance. He made me promise to ask ya a few things before I go off on my own thing. He'll get his feathers in a bunch if I don't, so humor me. First things first: why do you wanna join the Hunters?" He asked the question with a roll of his eyes, clearly annoyed that he had to ask the question. How many times did he ask this question before to other teams?

"Well, I think it would be an experience that would help me possibly fit into the society better. Not to mention I could learn a few things - skills and all that - to help both me and others." The male said after thinking for a few minutes. Of all times to not be able to focus, why here?

To the Sneasel's surprise, the Furret seems to be at least mildly interested in what he had to say. "All right. Respectable, yeah. Down the list..." The scruffy Normal-type reaches out for a parchment that had been set on the table. Instead of reading it, he crumples it up in his paws before rudely tossing it over his shoulder. He could kind of see why the Empoleon seemed a bit displeased with the representative. "What can you bring to the Hunters? What skills or talents can you utilize for us?" Yet again, he had a mocking tone to his voice as he asked more questions.

"I'm quite agile on my feet, so if a message needed to get spread around or something, I would be able to do the job quickly. I can also be pretty quiet, so if I had to hide or be stealthy I would be able to do so," Waltz said, a faint frown on his face as he paused for a second or two. And I can be charismatic, so maybe I could persuade people into helping or something?"

"Yeah, yeah, I gotcha. I guess we'll get to see some of that soon enough. Don't get me wrong; your answer don't mean you're gonna be taken or thrown out. This is basically... formalities..." Cuffin stopped to think, tilting his head upwards as he did so. "...Yeah, formalities. I think that's the word he used. Whatever that means." The Dark and Ice type shrugged, as he was unsure as well.

A grin once again returned to Cuffin's features as he prepared to ask the next question. This aught to be interesting. "This one's more interestin', to the little guy's credit. Are you against doin' things that the Royal Guard ain't gonna like if they catch ya doin' em?"

"I try to just go with the flow. Do what feels right depending on the situation. If going against them will possibly result in a better outcome, then I might." The young adult spoke, pausing for a few seconds afterwards before he nodded. Yeah, that sounded about right.

The Furret's tall ears twitched at Waltz' response. "It ain't me, just sayin'. I know well enough that if yer here, then you an' I are prolly already aware of the answer to that question. I just needed somethin' to tell the kid." Cuffin said, his words followed by a sigh of relief as he threw his arms into the air before resting them on the sides of the chair. "Whew. All right, enough of that stuff. The kid is on the right track, but sometimes it seems like the royals crammed a stick really far up there, if ya know what I mean. All these "formalities" and junk... anyway, the rest is straight from me."

He glances left and right, but his bright optics don't seem to stay fixated on the Sneasel. Did he have a hard time focusing on one thing? That was what Waltz seemed to think. Before another thought could process, the Normal-type began to explain in a sincere manner, "You already know the basic stuff, so I'm gonna level with ya. Truth is, the Hunters are all about knowin' things about everybody else. Yer gonna learn secrets that nobody else will know. It'll change the way you look at this whole city, and yer prolly not gonna like what you see, but you'll always know exactly what's goin' on under the coat of sugar. I wouldn't blame ya if you'd rather go hang with a Guild that doesn't deal in the worst of what Andalusst can offer."

Once more, a faint frown appeared on the Sneasel's face. There were other Guilds he could join?! Well, it seemed it was too late to back down now. He seemed to be doing alright at this little 'interview'. "I'd rather know the bitter truth than to be blind to what's actually going on here. Knowing about the residents may help me get a better understanding of how to deal with 'em. Besides, I think this Guild will help me toughen up, especially if I'm gonna have to deal with some... unpleasant situations." Ugh, he hated unpleasant situations. But another reason he decided he would stick to his plan of joining this Guild was because it seemed this Guild was rich. If they could afford to dine here, then perhaps they truly were wealthy?

Cuffin's nonchalant attitude reoccurs with a smirk once he heard the Dark and Ice type's response. "Is that so? Well... to be honest, I would've blamed ya, actually," he said jokingly, a teasing tone to his voice. "Who doesn't wanna know everything about everybody? Life is all about keepin' yer options as open as possible 'til the right moment."

At that moment, the Empoleon waiter returned to the table, flippers laden with the two orders. Before he handed Cuffin his meal, he slowly set down Waltz' meal first so that the Furret would have to wait a bit longer. The young adult couldn't help but to be amused by the waiter's hatred towards the representative. Once more he hesitated to set down the scruffy Pokémon's food, as if he desired to ruin his meal. And Cuffin isn't even looking this way! With a sigh, the Empoleon resisted his desires to ruin the Furret's dish and set it down in front of him before walking away with an annoyed look on his face.

The Hunters Guild representative then turned to face Waltz once more, who was reaching for silverware so that he may begin dining on his meal. "Before we eat..." he interrupts before reaching for the nearest glass, which he held up and across the table. "Let's toast, to the new recruits," Cuffin suggested, leaning in and whispering his final sentence, "...That's you, just so ya know." At the Normal-type's response, Waltz smiled and let out a soft sigh of relief before he reached for his own glass and joined Cuffin in a toast.

I liked it. Since you had one character, I felt that it was good that you really focused on Waltz's thoughts in order for the readers to get a better feel for the character. =)
